Demolition Commences at UTV’s Former HQ Havelock House

by | Jan 8, 2024

Demolition activities have started at Havelock House in Belfast, previously the base of UTV.

The demolition at the Ormeau Road location commenced on Monday, with intentions to construct over 100 new social housing units.

Lotus Property, in collaboration with the Clanmill Housing Association, has put forth this plan, awaiting approval from planning authorities.

Originally built in 1871 as a hemstitching warehouse, Havelock House served as UTV’s headquarters from 1959 until the company moved to City Quays in Belfast in 2018.

Despite opposition from a local campaign group, the demolition is proceeding, as the building is not under historical preservation.
